§         Dr. Henry Pan has been elected as Chair of the BioPharm Board in March 2006.  Dr. Pan has a distinguished career in Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry.  He is currently an EVP at Neurocrine.  Prior to Neurocrine, he was a Managing Director at Vennworks NY, CEO of Vennworks RTP, Chancellor of the Enterprise Factory Institute.  He was also President/CEO of Pharmacologics; Presdent/CEO of MDS Pharmaceutical Services (MDS Harris/Panlabs/CTL, among others). Dr. Pan also served as the Executive VP, Drug Development at DuPont Merck and Vice President of Clinical R&D at Bristol-Myers Squibb.  He has been involved in over 40 NDAs and has over 100 publications. He has also served on the board of more than 15 companies.  In addition to his MD degree, he has degrees in Genetics (BSc), Toxicology (MS), Pharmacology (PhD), and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), American College of Clinical Pharmacology (FCP), American Heart Association, American Society of Angiology (FASA), Institute of Biological and Clinical Investigation (FIBCI), Academy of Medicine of NJ, and Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FFPM).

From Idea to Start up

Monte Jade Mid-Atlantic (MJMA), a non-profit organization promoting science, technology, entrepreneurship and investment, is proud to be the host of the Monte Jade Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Workshop – an interactive series of three panel discussions open to the general biotechnology community with key lessons and tips from biotechnology entrepreneurs and experienced professionals who live and breathe startups everyday. Dr. Chang and Dr. Chao will receive the Life-time Pioneer Achievement Award and Life-time Achievement in Biopharma Award, respectively.   They will make presentations and remarks about their accomplishments in their respective fields, which are development of new biopharmaceuticals and specialty drugs.

 

Dr. Shing Chang and Dr. Pan are seasoned Executives in the pharmaceutical industry. They will share their experiences in the development of successful products and career.

 

Dr. Kenneth Fong will lead a panel discussion on THE MAKING OF A SUCCESSFUL   BIOTECH COMPANY, with successful entrepreneurs such as Dr. Jaw-Kang Chang (Phoenix

Pharmaceuticals), Dr. Guo-Liang Yu (Eptiomics), Dr. Xinfan Huang (Genepharm) and 

Dr. Jason Li (Panomics).

 

Dr. Chi-Ming Lee of AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals and Dr. Edward Chu of Yale University will  co-chair a workshop on THE TRANSLATIONAL MEDICINE, with leading experts such as 

Dr. Orest Hurko (Wyeth Research), Dr. Lars Farde (Karolinska Institute), Dr. Alan Wu (UCSF),

and Dr. Shwu-Huey Liu (Phytoceutica).
